In 2021, The Royal CanadianAir Force’s 412 VIP Squadron celebrated its 80th anniversary since the squadron was stood up in the Second World War. From its roots as a Spitfire fighter squadron, 412 has become one of the few squadrons that have been in service with the RCAF without interruption since its creation.
Aerographics was tasked to design an anniversary emblem to be worn on the tails of the squadron’s Canadair Challenger 605 jets — one befitting the unit’s VIP status and remarkable history. Above: LCol Marc Richard performs a flawless topside pass at the 2021 AeroGatineau Air Show in September, 2021
The anniversary emblem depicts some of the many diverse aircraft operated by 412 Squadron — clockwise from top: Canadair Challenger, Beech Expeditor, North American Harvard, de Havilland Comet -1, Canadair Cosmopolitan, Canadair Yukon, Supermarine Spitfire, Dash-7, Dash-8, Canadair Northstar, Dassault Falcon, and Douglas DC-3 Dakota.
The emblem was also used on t-shirts worn by squadron personnel.
